Sérgio Costa
Founder, CEO and host
Graduated in Biology, with an MSc and a PhD in Forensic Genetics.
Sérgio is, first and foremost, a great Douro enthusiast. Born into a family with close ties to the Douro, he first got to know the region in early childhood. His connection to it has grown ever since, and when the chance came to share his love for the Douro with others, he grabbed it with both hands.
A biologist by training, his true passion is showing the Douro's secrets and wonders in a humble but memorable way. As a self-taught astronomer, he also loves sharing the marvels of the night sky with anyone willing to come along.
João Sá Carneiro
Chef, Cooking with Chef João
A chef with more than 10 years of experience. In Portugal he has worked at the Hotel Vidago Palace and the Conrad Algarve, and has led the kitchen at Quinta de Ventozelo.
He spent 5 years in France, in Michelin-starred kitchens including La Bastide de Saint-Antoine, the Hôtel Haut-Allier and Le Lido, as well as Restaurant Michel Sarran in Toulouse and Domaine de Capelongue in Bonnieux.
His cooking is a cuisine of flavour, where the quality of the product comes first. Sustainability, organic produce, zero-kilometre food and zero waste are constant commitments.
