Why this day
Light and fresh, then deep and complex
We head north into the Minho to Monverde Wine Experience, a hotel and winery among vineyards and hills. A guided tour of the estate explains what makes Vinho Verde so fresh, light and mineral, followed by a tasting of selected wines.
Lunch is at Come na 2, a family-run restaurant known for traditional, home-cooked dishes, with the region’s best local products and wines.
Then south into the Douro to H.O Wines in Cumieira, a modern, sleek estate with deep roots. A tour and tasting show the contrast: the light wines of the morning against the Douro’s robust, complex reds. Back in Porto by evening.
